I’m going to be thinking about this for a long while, thinking about contemporary U.S. “body” debates (fatphobia and its critics, plastic surgery, tiktok teaching 10 yr olds that they need skin care routines, wellness, etc). Is it a kind of permanent “latency period” (like the Jane Fonda one) on mass scale maybe given the lack of consequential Left collective politics? Hmmm.

Quite interesting to think of jogging and bodybuilding as »bad« because they are not collective.

Doesn't strength training have a collective aspect to it? A shared space, with a simple cheap squat rack, bench, barbell and plates not fit the bill of collective and discipline?

And what about jogging, no doubt it can be a focus on ones self-appearance and being thin, but what about again physical and mental mastery of ones strength and endurance, can't jogging play a part in that?

Doesn't the very notion of mastery itself not require some focus on the self and some distance from the collective?

I can see the negative aspects of focus on oneself but specifically for the purposes of how someone is seen by others.

The answer is "No. She will never die." And having seen "The Dial Of Destiny" neither will Harrison Ford. Reni certainy deserves (we all do) a major film retrospective of all her work and a "complete works" comprehensive (for emphasis)4K package with all her films and a couple of documentaries. I'd love to do the "Dial of Destiny" trip and see what she thinks of de-ageing in films and what she'd make of Big Mouth.

Citizens if united states civilians could take a year long deprivation in any direction, we would be a contender. 250 000 soviets came out to throw four bags of sand from helicopters at Chernobyl for that many hours of overtime pay and a bottlavodka. John Koscha Hungarian in 1962 observing the soviet take over said 'in everything from street gangs to-everything, people took up obedience to the daily superego of the group'. It is our delusion to believe we are smarter than Freud who saw us and really only delineated how we act in groups. No wonder we are alone on the phone, we believe willfully in the punk idea of criminal elites we elide our whole personal histories of admiring the person who charms us in our groups for one day. There is even a more dangerous idea, more easily falsifiable after the fact that we also poopooh. The messiah is allowable, if you look at the idea the actual person will be crushed under a boot by sheer Newtonian physics. But what a messiah like say Stephen Gaskin, or any- does is endure our irradiating freely given affection. They are worthy of it if they give as good as they get. Gaskin was remanded to a federal prison, these donot last long. Superego is about giving directions in the moments you are at loose ends, as a metaphor, that is Based on Your Previous reading kind of thing, anwdelf also the feeling like a child part. I just say in the battling of your desires? Your desire to join the community as a selfless helpmeet and servant? You donot get there by not listening to persuasive godverdammerungs from your internalized monster magneto of Progress, Captain Planet, mine is Ironman....we are selfish, I am crying in my beer right now. But tomorrow will be crying into my wage labor. If you see irrationality in the Freudian description, of human bondage, then you are ready to make as multileveled of a choice about your future as you can, and more than a neurologist, which brain surgeon you are not.
